Minute maid pulpy orange by the Coca-Cola company is an orange blend soft drink widely famous in India. The point that makes it different from other soft drinks available in the market such as Mirinda, Fanta and more is that the brand claims that it is a blend made from orange pulp. 45ml of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange costs you around Rs 35 which is not a bad price compared to other orange drinks available in the market. It is an innovative product for which children, as well as adults, likes its refreshing taste. So today in this article we will be reviewing minute maid pulpy orange and will be determining its hidden secrets. Let’s begin.

Minute Maid Pulpy Orange – Analyzing

How much orange is present actually?

Water is the first ingredient mentioned in the list. This is because Minute Maid Pulpy Orange is not an entire orange juice, rather it contains orange juice concentrate along with orange pulp cells. The water is added to dilute the mixture. On nutritional aspects,

100ml consists of about 10ml of orange juice and the rest 89% is water. The rest 1% is basically flavoring agents, acidity regulators and so on.

    Amount of sugar

100ml of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange contains almost 11g of sugar which makes it 44g sugar in the 400ml pack. One bottle of Minute maid pulpy orange consists of about 44g sugar which is considered relatively high. Too much sugar in your regular diet will definitely lead to obesity and diabetes. As a result, you should definitely consider sharing one bottle instead of consuming the entire one.

    Acidity regulators 330 and 331

Both acidity regulators 330 and 331 present in Minute Maid Pulpy Orange are not harmful to your health. The fruit flavor that is found in the drink comes from these acidity regulators and the flavors added. Both of the acidity regulators maintain the pH of the drink.

    Antioxidant 300

Antioxidant 300 is also known as ascorbic acid which is again not harmful to your health. But again too much of anything is bad.

    The orange color

The orange color that you witness in Minute Maid Pulpy Orange is not from real oranges. Synthetic food colors 110 and 112 are added for this purpose.

Food color 110 generally is safe but sometimes causes hyper activeness in children. Too much of Color 110 may result in digestive issues and skin-related problems.

The next Color 102 that has been added in Minute Maid Pulpy Orange drink contains a harmful compound known as tartrazine. This toxic compound remains in your body for a longer time and may cause cancer in the near future. So, children under 5 years and pregnant women should definitely avoid this product.

    Natural identical flavors

Further natural identical flavors are added to give the orange flavor.

Minute Maid Pulpy Orange – The actual review

Minute Maid Pulpy Orange actually doesn’t quite go by its name. Overall, it consists of a hint of orange and the rest is filled up with flavors, colors and sugar. On nutritional aspects, Minute Maid Pulpy Orange has calories and sugar but no protein, fat or vitamins and minerals. As a result, this pulpy orange can be kept in the junk food category.

The little bit of orange that is added in Minute Maid Pulpy Orange is added in concentrated form. As a result, the nutrition of the orange is lost after the processing. So it is basically nothing but a blended drink stuffed with calories and sugar.

The shelf life of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange drink is 4 months. Despite using so many preservatives it is weird that this pulpy orange drink has such low shelf life.

Instead, if you really want to drink orange juice you should go for the natural orange juice made at home. Occasionally you can definitely relish Minute Maid Pulpy Orange but if you take it regularly then consume it in control portion so that you can enjoy the taste without affecting your health. People who are on their weight loss journey or diabetic patients should definitely avoid this product.
