    Doja Cat is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. Her real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamine. She started singing from the age of 17 and has written over 20 original songs. Her famous songs include So High, Mooo, Kiss Me More, Purrr and so on. Her famous albums include Hot Pink, Amala, Planet Her. 

    Almost everyone knows about Doja Cat’s achievements (from Grammy winner, Billboard award to The AMA’s and The VMA’s, she has achieved it all), but very few know about her weight loss journey. 

    Indeed, Doja Cat lost a lot of weight. She went from 140 pounds to 120 pounds within a small gap of a few years.

    Doja Cat’s weight loss journey was not easy and required extreme mental and physical strength to achieve it. She had body dysmorphia which made her choose this weight loss journey. In fact, she went on to write a song called “Juicy”, which describes how did she accept the fact. 

    In an interview, she spoke about her body dysmorphia and how her song is linked to it.

    “It started during my teens, which I think is where it begins for most people. I started really growing, and I never really thought I looked good in a lot of the stuff I wore. I feel like that song (juicy) was therapeutic for me, I kind of made it for myself – well, the meaning behind it, at least, I was kind of doing it for my own happiness and I feel like other people can definitely pull some joy from that, too.Now I just try to focus on eating well, but I definitely still struggle with body dysmorphia a bit now. But I think that’s to be completely expected when there are all these phones in your face, right.”

    Doja Cat about why she tried losing weight

    As we can see, motivation is always necessary to get success when it comes to fitness and weight loss goals. One who has a focus can achieve anything. Doja never worried about being fat in the beginning and said that it doesn’t matter what others think of her. The weight loss was her choice and not because people judged her. She just wanted to show that everything is possible if you want to do it.

    There is a noticeable difference between how Doja Cat was in the beginning and how she is right now. From fat she became fit. Thanks to her healthy lifestyle, physical exercises and gym instructor who helped her to shed the pounds. Doja looks properly fit now and has developed an amazing body shape. Social media haters of Doja now praise her weight loss journey. Shedding 20 pounds is not a matter of joke, especially within a short period of time. 

    Doja Cat’s diet plan 

    Diet and physical exercises are the two main ways to lose body fat. Doja Cat loved eating almost everything and this led to an unhealthy lifestyle. But after realizing she became very strict on her diet. Although she has never been public on the fact about the diet she followed to lose weight but on her Twitter and Instagram, she used to provide hints related to what she is eating.

    She completely avoids junk foods and alcohol. She started eating low-carb foods, green leafy vegetables and protein-rich foods. During the lockdown, she started cooking her own food. Her diet plan included the following. 

    • Breakfast – 2 eggs, toast
    • Lunch – Salmon/tuna fish, vegetables 
    • Evening snack – Seaweed chips, coffee
    • Dinner – Spinach, chicken steak, salads

    This diet plan was followed by Doja Cat, but not on a regular basis. She used to exclude some and include some to maintain the variation. Moreover, she used to drink a lot of water to keep herself hydrated. Fruits were also a regular part of her diet. She also slept a lot to remain healthy and energized. 

    Doja Cat’s workout plan 

    Doja Cat does not mention the regular workouts that she did to lose weight. A confirmed fact is that she used to run every day in the morning for at least 15 minutes (treadmill or outdoors) so that it would keep her energized and also burn out fat while doing so. She was also into cycling which she performed during the evening time. Certain sources claimed that she had surgery to get into shape. But this is completely denied by her. She claims to have got into shape just by following a properly maintained diet and regular physical exercises. 

    Certain sources claim that she had a gym instructor who made her concentrate on cardio and other high-intensity weight training exercises. The various weight training exercises that she used to perform are

    • Squat + Curl
    • Bench Step Ups
    • Push Ups
    • Incline dumble press
    • Kettlebell swings
    • Lunges
    • Crunches

    It didn’t matter if it was lockdown outside, as most of these physical exercises just require a dumbbell or so. She had most of the types of equipment in her home.

    Overall, Doja cat is an inspiration who not only is popular in her field but also has proved everyone wrong when it came to weight loss. If you are looking for inspiration then Kelly Doty, Doja Cat, Shehnaaz gill, Sara Ali Khan could be your inspiration who lost tremendous weight within a short period of time. Doja cat faced tremendous body shaming from her fans but yet stood up to the challenge and accomplished it.
