All of us are all the time concerned with one fact, whether we have a fat belly or not, day and night we are concerned, both men and women while serving we immediately are careful and refuse to take more saying that my tummy might increase. There is such a fear of fat belly in India.
Among the seven ‘dhatus’ that form our body the fat tissue like any other body tissue is essential for the healthy body. It keeps the balance while in adequate quantity and is indispensable. But it does have a little stickiness, uncouthness, for flexibility, where joining of two tissues, body parts is required, it provides lubrication.
Also for an attractive figure the fat tissue is a must. Nowadays there is a trend of having a zero figure, it is all nonsense. The zero figure is not benefiting and it disturbs the balance ,
Of-course the fat tissue should surely not increase beyond the normal limits but this doesn’t mean that zero figure without any shape and contours is correct.
Body parts affected due to fat accumulation
Now when the fat tissue increases in our body, the first thing that happens is the belly size starts increasing. Ayurveda describes three main places in the body where fat accumulation takes place.

- the chest and breasts
- the buttocks

These areas keep increasing and therefore people are in fear. When the tummy size increases it leads to cantilever effect, then to lift it becomes difficult, and may lead to problems with bones in the spine. At the first stage, the person gets breathless, then heart problems may arise. So whenever it feels like the tummy is increasing, do not wait. Once the fat tissue increases it is very difficult to reduce it.
Home remedies for weight loss
Firstly after waking up in the morning, take 1 tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp ginger juice and 1 tsp honey and put them all in light warm water. Do not add honey to very warm water, the ayurvedic power of honey disappears. Drink this every morning
Secondly use flax seeds, cumin seeds, bay leaves, rock salt and catechu( used in beetle leaves pan) and mix them together in equal quantities maybe 20gm each. Take 1/4th of the mixture everyday in the morning or at night before sleeping with water.
The third recipe is from buttermilk, which most Indian homes prepare everyday. Buttermilk is a part of culture in many parts of India. First take cow’s milk and set it to curd. For making curd, use the animal origin, bacterial culture. The curd culture, with the bacteria is needed. Add the culture to cow milk and get the curd. Add equal quantity of water to curd and mix it well to get buttermilk. Take out all the butter that gets collected on top. Take a little cold water and mix once again to remove remaining butter. There should be no butter inside, the remaining thing that remains is the “chaas“. To this buttermilk add cumin seeds , rock-salt, Asafoetida, curry leaves and peepali powder and consume it.
At breakfast take puffed rice with milk. Don’t make the breakfast too heavy if you are trying to reduce weight.
