Galia melon is nothing but a hybrid combination of cantaloupe/muskmelon and honeydew melon. The natural appearance of this melon has been derived from combining both honeydew melons and cantaloupe.
The outer part of the Galia melon looks like the cantaloupe whereas the inner part is quite similar to that of a honeydew melon. It is basically green in color but turns to yellow when ripe. It is generally sweet in taste.

This hybrid melons were first made in 1973 in Israel by the melon breeder, Dr. Zvi Karchi. He developed this melon and named it “Galia melon”, after his daughter’s name which meant “god’s wave”. This is actually a very interesting fact about Galia melon.
